Four actuation-force choices cover lighter everyday use through firmer keypress preferences.
Keygeek Y2X Linear Switch
YES, Keygeek Y2X is an upgrade to the Keygeek Y2 switches. Y2X feels slightly smoother, sounds even deeper and thockier.
Keygeek Y2X is a factory-lubed linear switch from MZ Studio, tuned for exceptionally smooth travel and a pure, deeply thocky sound profile.
The transparent PA12 top and bottom housings let the switch's concentrated, clean sound character shine through while maintaining a smooth keypress. Its upgraded U8 UPE stem material builds on U5 to deliver a more concentrated, deeper and thockier sound, improved rebound, and better unwanted-noise control at bottom-out.
Four spring weights cover everyday typing, switch enthusiasts, gaming, and heavier keypress preferences. Comprehensive factory lubrication provides even, durable, ready-to-use smoothness and excellent noise control.

Y2 Series Update
What the Y2X Changes from the Keygeek Y2
The Keygeek Y2X is an MZ Studio linear switch positioned as an update to the earlier Y2. The current product page describes the new version as slightly smoother, with a deeper and more concentrated bottom-out sound.
The construction uses transparent PA12 for both the top and bottom housings, paired with an upgraded U8 stem. According to the product description, the U8 material builds on the earlier U5 stem concept with the goal of improving rebound, concentrating the sound profile and controlling unwanted noise at bottom-out.
Specification Guide
Four Spring Weights, One Linear Platform
Y2X is offered in four force options. The main construction and travel specifications stay the same, while the spring choice changes how light or firm the keypress feels.
The available variants progressively increase resistance at the end of travel.
This is the listed actuation distance before the switch registers a press.
The official specification table lists 3.6mm total travel across the Y2X variants.
Spring & Lubrication
Factory Lubed and Ready for a Finished Build
The Y2X is sold factory lubed. UniKeys describes the application as comprehensive, intended to support smooth travel, a concentrated muted/deep sound character and better control of unwanted switch noise.
- The 37g, 45g and 53g bottom-out variants use 22mm single-stage springs.
- The 63.5g bottom-out variant uses an 18mm single-stage spring.
- All four variants use the same PA12 top housing, U8 stem and PA12 bottom housing material combination.
- No additional hand-lubing is required to use the switch as sold.
Sound, Weight & Build Fit
Who Is the Keygeek Y2X Most Likely to Suit?
The current product page positions Y2X as a smooth linear switch with a deep, thocky and concentrated sound profile. The four force options make it easier to match the same switch design to different keypress preferences.
May Suit
- Enthusiasts who want a deeper, thockier linear switch sound.
- Users who prefer a soft bottom-out feel rather than a sharp tactile event.
- Typists and gamers who want to choose among light, medium and heavier spring weights.
- Builds where a transparent housing is useful for maintaining visible lighting around the switch area.
May Not Suit
- Users who specifically want a tactile bump or click mechanism.
- Very quiet shared-space builds where a silent switch is the priority.
- Buyers who want an intentionally high-pitched or sharp clacky sound profile.
- Anyone who does not want to choose between multiple spring-weight variants.
Before You Order
Choose the Force First, Then Calculate Pack Quantity
One quantity contains 10 switches. Select the preferred bottom-out force—37g, 45g, 53g or 63.5g—then order enough 10-switch packs for the keyboard layout.
The current product page does not make a universal compatibility claim. Before buying for a full build, compare the product photos and switch format with the PCB, plate and mounting requirements of the specific keyboard.
Product Questions
Keygeek Y2X Linear Switch FAQ
Is the Keygeek Y2X a linear switch?
Yes. The Y2X is a linear mechanical keyboard switch, so its keypress is designed without a tactile bump or click mechanism.
How is the Y2X different from the earlier Keygeek Y2?
The current UniKeys description positions Y2X as an upgrade to Y2, with slightly smoother travel, a deeper and more concentrated sound profile, upgraded U8 stem material and improved rebound/noise control at bottom-out.
What materials are used in the Y2X?
The confirmed specifications list a transparent PA12 top housing, U8 stem and transparent PA12 bottom housing.
What force options are available?
The product page lists 32g, 40g, 48g and 53g operating-force variants, corresponding to 37g, 45g, 53g and 63.5g bottom-out force options.
What is the travel distance?
The specification table lists 2.0 ± 0.2mm pre-travel and 3.6 ± 0.2mm total travel. This extension follows the specification table rather than the separate 3.8mm wording elsewhere on the current page.
Is the Keygeek Y2X factory lubed?
Yes. UniKeys lists comprehensive factory lubrication intended to support smooth travel and control unwanted switch noise.
How many switches are included per quantity?
Each quantity contains 10 switches. Order multiple quantities for a complete keyboard build.
Which Y2X spring weight should I choose?
The lighter options suit users who prefer lower resistance, while the heavier variants provide a firmer keypress and bottom-out. The best choice depends on personal typing or gaming preference.

I have been so thrilled with these Keygeek Y2X switches. The most difficult part about owning them is trying to decide which board to keep them in. I am fairly certain that I will be buying more.

I bought these Y2X switches to use with a set of MT3 keycaps I had that seemed to trigger stray characters far too easily. I had read that because these keycaps are taller than Cherry and OEM, a bit closer to SA, that they needed switches with more forceful springs. So, I chose the 63 gf version; quiet yet beefy. In truth, it's pretty obvious when you're typing against a bottom out of 63 gf versus 55 but certainly not unpleasant; they just seem to have a bit more personality and stand their ground. These switches are very smooth, overall, and make very little sound. The sound they do make is pretty low frequency and I find it very unobtrusive. Overall, I'm super pleased with these switches although I'd also like to try the versions with a slightly lower bottom out gf and see if they have enough oomph to handle the weight of the MT3 keycaps. Sometimes small differences in ratings give a surprisingly different subjective experience. Highly recommended!

exactly as expected, much lighter bottom out force compared to OEM Asus, which is too strong for my taste, fatigues soon if holding long enough on OEM Asus, on these, not anymore

Really solid switch. Didn’t try the Y2 to compare them, but these did not disappoint by any means

They sound so good coming from HP's these are refreshing when i bottom them out they sound so gooood!
Francis F. 5/5 Verified
Smooth, thick, creamy, thocky sound. They sound like a silent adjacent, but without any of the mushiness of my experience with silent switches (other than the Haime Heartbeat?).
Clayton J. 5/5 Verified
Perfect switches; as usual with unikeys, the delivery was fast and simple. Excited to use them all in my next build
Ethan M. 5/5 Verified
Love these switches! They have a lovely deep thock that is more audible than my regular semi-silent switches without being loud. I’m able to use them in my private office, with the door open, without bothering anyone. Plus, the transparent housing allows RGBs to really shine, which is a nice change from the prior version. Thankfully, I did not experience any tightness when installing or removing them, as some other reviewers have mentioned.

I love these Y2X, they're thockier and more muted than Y2. if you want a deeper and quieter Y2, these are the ones to get!

Feel and sound great

Smoothest linears in the market. Very impressive sound profile. The stem is putting in overtime with its articulate and thoughtful construction to deepen and dampen sound. And as always, exceptional lubrication.
Waylon L. 5/5 Verified
They sound super deep and thocky. Definitely the thockiest switch I have ever tried. Sounds very good and feel super smooth

Great!

The switches are what they are described to be. A superior upgrade to the Y2. Probably the “thockiest” switches out there. The only issue is that it seems that the switches are very hard to remove. Probably has to do with tolerance consistency. I broke i few of the switches specifically on the rgb diffuser frame area.

first of all, these switches sound AMAZING. i have them with a POM plate, full foam build with PBT cherry caps, and it sounds somewhere along the lines of tapping two solid pieces of wood together, or two very solid marbles. deep, thocky, and resonant. sounds lovely in the mods as well. however, as another review brought up, these switches can be HARD to remove. i tested them on a couple different boards and they were an absolute pain. that's the only reason these aren't a 5/5. i'd place them like a 4.5/5 if i could

Excellent improvement on the Y2s

They are just as thocky and creamy as promised. Very nice switches
Ken Y. 5/5
A nice update to the Y2—less stem wobble and an even richer sound; I really like them.

Y2X sounds even thocker and deeper than Y2 switches. Keygeek and MZ Studio did a good job upgrading it.
Joy C. 5/5
The switches both were nearly impossible to remove on both my keychron q2 pcb and my ningning60 pcb, and removing them either needed me to physically press from below on the pcb to push out or required such force that it damaged and bent the plastic surrounding the release hooks. Great sound though.

As stated in the product description, I feel like this is a true upgrade from Y2. While retaining the deep and thocky sound of the keys, It now operates more smoothly.
