Light Tactile Design

A Light Tactile Switch Built Around a Custom Stem Mold

The WINGTREE Torrero is a light tactile mechanical keyboard switch designed by Toro Studio and manufactured by Wingtree. Its defining feature is a custom tactile stem mold paired with proprietary POM and PA66 material blends.

The current product description positions these choices as a way to create a different typing feel and sound character from earlier Wingtree tactile switches. With a 42±2g operating force, 50±2g bottom-out force and 4.0±0.3mm total travel, the Torrero sits in a relatively light tactile configuration with full-length travel.

Specification Guide

What the Torrero Specifications Mean for the Keypress

These confirmed specifications describe the switch mechanism itself. The final feel and sound will still change with the keyboard case, plate, keycaps, mounting system and other build components.

42±2g Operating Force

The listed operating force keeps the initial press on the lighter side while retaining the tactile switch design.

50±2g Bottom-Out Force

Resistance rises toward the end of the keypress, giving the switch a firmer bottom-out than its operating-force figure.

1.8mm Pre-Travel

The specified pre-travel is the distance before actuation and is one part of how the switch responds during a keypress.

4.0±0.3mm Total Travel

The Torrero uses full-length travel together with a 20mm KOS single-stage extended spring.

Materials & Lubrication

Proprietary Materials with Targeted Factory Lubing

The Torrero uses a proprietary POM stem with proprietary PA66 for both the top and bottom housings. Wingtree also applies factory lubrication to selected contact areas rather than treating the entire switch as a heavily lubricated assembly.

  • Stem: proprietary POM.
  • Top housing: proprietary PA66.
  • Bottom housing: proprietary PA66.
  • The top-housing contact points, spring and leaf are factory lubed.

The product page describes the lubrication as a precise application intended to keep the switch smooth and clean while reducing the chance of lubricant pooling.

Sound & Use Case

Who Is the Torrero Most Likely to Suit?

The current product page describes the Torrero sound profile as high pitched, clacky, crispy and pleasant. Because it is a light tactile switch, it is most relevant to users who want noticeable tactile feedback without moving to a clicky switch mechanism.

May Suit

  • Enthusiasts looking for a lighter tactile keypress.
  • Users who prefer a high-pitched, clacky and crisp sound profile.
  • Typing-focused builds where tactile feedback is preferred over a completely linear press.
  • Buyers who want full-length 4mm-class travel.

May Not Suit

  • Users specifically looking for a linear switch with no tactile event.
  • Quiet offices or shared spaces where a subdued sound profile is important.
  • Buyers seeking a click-jacket or click-bar style audible click mechanism.
  • Users who prefer short-travel switches.

Before You Order

Pack Size and Build Planning

One quantity contains 10 switches. For a full keyboard build, count the switch positions in the intended layout and order enough 10-switch packs to cover the board.

The current product specifications do not state universal compatibility with every keyboard. Before ordering, compare the switch format shown in the product photos with the PCB, plate and mounting requirements of the specific keyboard.

Ordering note: Each cart quantity equals 10 switches. Consider adding spare switches if you want replacements available during the build.

Customer Reviews

Overall rating: 4.9 / 5 from 15 reviews.

This switch definitely has an audience, it's just not me. It's still a decent switch that's well liked, so I don't want to be unfair with my stars. And to be fair, the tactility is light and lives up that light tactile description. Non-aggressive, and just noticeable enough while typing, which I liked. It also has realllly good scratch. The sound itself has a deeper tone to it, which I also liked, but I also felt compared to sound tests on youtube, the switch sounded a bit different IRL. It's not a bad sound, just an observation. I had it on a board with a POM plate at first, but felt it sounded much better on aluminum, and that the metal plate amplified the scratch better. I felt the sound on this switch had a deeper tone than one of wingtree's other light tactiles, like the purple teas. However, this is advertised as 50+2 bottom out, and unfortunately (to me), it feels much heavier than that. If you, like me, are either prone to pain and/or like to stick to lighter switches, even though these are advertised as lighter, I'd either steer clear or try a small sample first. There was heaviness with this switch right away, and unfortunately it didn't take much typing at all for my hands to ache with this one, especially with its full travel. My daily switches are in the low 50s (caramel pudding v2s and saru v2s) and despite how prone I am to pain, I don't normally have any issues with bottom outs in this range, so I wasn't expecting much of an issue or difference with weight with the torrero. In short: good switch, but feels heavier than expected. If weight is an issue for you, take care to sample first before going all in. If you want something very similar without the risk of it being too heavy, try the wingtree purple teas. Very similar light tactile, though the torreros probably have more scratch, and much lighter.
