Tactile switches are mechanical keyboard switches that provide a noticeable physical
bump when pressed, offering immediate tactile feedback. Users can confirm key
activation without hearing a click, making them quiet yet precise—ideal for
typing, programming, and gaming scenarios that require accurate input.

Tactile switches don’t inherently cause finger fatigue. It mainly depends on the
actuation force and how long you type or game. Lighter tactile switches (around
45g–55g actuation force) are generally comfortable for extended use, reducing
strain over long typing sessions. Heavier tactile switches (60g and above) may
offer more control and precision but can cause fatigue if you type for many
hours without rest.

The main difference lies in key feedback and typing experience:

Linear switches are smooth and quiet, with no tactile bump, ideal for fast,
continuous key presses.

Tactile switches have a noticeable bump at the actuation point, providing
physical feedback that helps improve typing accuracy and prevent accidental
presses.

select tactile switches with a noticeable but smooth bump. For gaming, lighter
tactile or even linear switches may allow faster key presses.

Actuation force & bump profile: Lighter switches (~45–55g) reduce fatigue, while heavier switches
offer more control. Sharper bumps provide more noticeable feedback, while
softer bumps feel smoother.

Sound level: Tactile
switches are quieter than clicky switches but louder than linear switches.

Additional factors: Consider
lubrication potential, hot-swappability, switch mount type, and compatibility
with keycaps or plates.

way to find the switch that balances comfort, precision, and responsiveness for

Tactile keyboard switches work well without lubrication, but applying it can reduce friction, improve smoothness, and enhance sound quality. Keep in mind that
lubrication may slightly alter the tactile feel. Using too much can soften the
bump and reduce its sharpness, so it’s best to apply it sparingly.
